gail is blocking a lot of apps I'm currently trying to install or upgrade. It blocks mozilla-firefox-2.0.0.18, nvidia-drivers, banshee ah... and some I don't remember. However, if I install gdm-2.20.7, gail-1.22.3 is reinstalled as a dependency Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. unmerge gail 2. emerge gdm-themes OR 1. emerge gail 2. emerge mozilla-firefox Actual Results: Either a dependency is missing or new ebuilds are blocked Portage 2.1.4.5 (default/linux/x86/2008.0, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.6.1-r0, 2.6.27-gentoo-r3 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.27-gentoo-r3 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz Timestamp of tree: Sat, 22 Nov 2008 17:00:01 +0000 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.4 [enabled] app-shells/bash: 3.2_p33 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.1.6 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r13, 2.5.2-r7 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r6 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r7 dev-util/cmake: 2.4.8 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.11.1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.18.1-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.61-r2 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.1-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.26 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.23-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=nocona -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/4.0/env /usr/kde/4.0/share/config /usr/kde/4.0/shutdown /usr/share/config /var/lib/hsqldb" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=nocona -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="ccache distlocks metadata-transfer sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/opsys/linux/gentoo/ http://mirror.qubenet.net/mirror/gentoo/ http://gentoo.ynet.sk/pub" LC_ALL="en_GB.UTF-8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" LINGUAS="en en_GB ja" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"
I think bug may lay on your side. gail became a part of the recent enough gtk (2.14). You failed to post the -pt output, but I think this is probably related. Just to make sure, what's your version of gtk+ ?
uuhhh.. I think I might see the problem, a ~x86 version of gtk: gtk+-2.14.4 Seems no package is requiring the unstable version anymore, I'll downgrade to stable and see if the problem's still there Sorry for bothering
Better stay with 2.14 and simply unmask gail-1000, when 2.14 hits stable you'll have to get it anyway.
