I think this package can probably get whacked from the tree. I don't see anything in the tree that uses it.
Did you have a reason for building this, or did this just come up in some automated testing of packages in the tree?
Just because no packages use it is not a good reason for a removal. It is useful for some people especially on old monitors. It's able to easily read DDC data and suggest valid modelines. Same fix of #236449
Created attachment 175332 [details, diff] Patch to fix build issues on x86
Bug still exists in 2.6.28 - And yes, Andrew, some people (me) would still like to use it :)
I'd like to use it too, FWIW.
Moving to QA for removal.
I get this today: !!! The following installed packages are masked: - sys-apps/ddcxinfo-knoppix-0.6 (masked by: package.mask) /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask: # Diego E. Pettenò <flameeyes@gentoo.org> (16 Jun 2009) # on behalf of QA Team # # Fails to build with not even recent Linux headers. # See bug #248388 # # Removal pending 16 August 2009 For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook. So is there an un-masked and stable package in the tree that can replace this one? get-edid (from x11-misc/read-edid) fails for my monitor, where ddcxinfo-knoppix succeeds.
Package removed.
