nuking the mbr and installing grub can be a bit intimidating ... having better support (or just documentation) for using ntldr to boot Gentoo would be great some info can be found here (but it's pretty round-about): http://www.vsubhash.com/writeups/multiboot_os.asp http://www.goodbye-windows.com/
I've messed with doing that before. It's not exactly "easy". You have to dd a copy of your grub boot block to a file on the windows partition and then point your boot.ini to this file, which essentially does a "chainload". From what I hear, this method (or at least using boot.ini) no longer works in Vista. Even if we create some documentation for it, that's really more the docs guys area than releng's.
@docs-team: Do you want to work on this?
Nope. Per agaffney's comment, and we can't possibly begin to support varying Windows configurations in our Linux installation handbook.
