When configuring cryptsetup without having e2fsprogs-libs installed, the configure script has this output: checking uuid/uuid.h usability... no checking uuid/uuid.h presence... no checking for uuid/uuid.h... no configure: error: 'You need the uuid library (from e2fsprogs)' After emerging sys-libs/e2fsprogs-libs, I was successfully able to emerge cryptsetup. This is using the Portage tree as of 2008-11-16 14:00 -0600.

Really? Is this so difficult?
(In reply to comment #2) > Really? Is this so difficult? > Is it really that difficult to bump a bug without being rude and obnoxious? If you have an issue with how long fixes take, feel free to look at becoming a developer so they you can care for the packages which are important to you.

This was fixed in cryptsetup-1.0.6-r2 a few weeks ago [1] and also in 1.0.5-r1. Marking as FIXED. [1] http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoo-x86/sys-fs/cryptsetup/cryptsetup-1.0.6-r2.ebuild?r1=1.4&r2=1.5
