Description n.klein 2008-11-15 10:43:54 UTC
On adding a buddy to my ICQ account, Pidgin crashes when I enter a local alias.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the "Add Buddy" dialog in pidgin
2. Select Protocol->ICQ
3. Enter the contact's ICQ number
4. In the "Alias (optional)" text field, enter a local alias
5. Click "Add"

Actual Results:
The program crashes with a SIGSEGV.

Expected Results:
pidgin should have added the contact to my contact list.

backtrace will be added after bug is filed.

According to upstream this bug was fixed in 2.5.1: http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/6821 Strange that you experience this problem in 2.5.1. May be wrong version was set in upstream's trac. Do you still have this problem? If yes, you need to rebuild gtk/glib with debugging symbols too and attach new backtrace. Currently I consider this bug is fixed.
