As per URL Arfrever is solving/commenting on too many bugs for bugzilla's mind. Arfrever is particularly active in crypto bugs and the gentoo organisation would benefit from giving Arfrever access to fix these bugs directly. I'm looking forward to be a mentor. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.look in inbox 2.Arfrever has commented on something 3.do what Arfrever says Expected Results: 1. see lots of portage tree improvements thanks to Arfrever
He's already working for us, he's a moderator for Polish part of forums. (reassigning to recruiters and unrestricting)
I will be unavailable between 2008-12-24 and 2009-01-07 so it will be at least then before I can take this bug.
Based on requests from bug wranglers I've granted editbugs to arfrever after dragonheart agreed to train him on how to use this appropriately. Arfrever, please talk to your mentor about bugzilla ASAP.
Arfrever, please, send approved by your mentor quizes to recruiters@gentoo.org. After that contact me by preferred method and we will schedule your a review session on IRC.
Arfrever, please update this bug after you send us quizzes.
I have sent the ebuild quiz.
On 13 Feb Arfrever passed ebuild quiz review. Updating due date to give Arfrever another month to finish end-quiz.
I have sent the end quiz.
Review sessions passed and our magic (LDAP, bugzilla, cvs/svn groups on cvs.gentoo.org, IRC-cloak, sent you your LDAP/mail password via encrypted mail) done. Vadim, you need to: - subscribe to mailing lists with @gentoo.org address - request forum status bump in #gentoo-forums or by mail to forum-mods@gentoo.org (if you have a forums account) - add yourself to mail aliases ( like java@gentoo.org ) see /var/mail/alias on dev.gentoo.org - ask team leads to add yourself to herds.xml for the herds you want to join or do it yourself if you have the permission to do so - set lat and lon attributes in LDAP if you want others to know where exactly you are located - set gentooIM if you want people to be able to contact you via other means than email For the mentor: - You are also responsible for the commits of your recruit during the first month so you should watch the commits of your recruit via gentoo-commits mailing list. Announcement and gentoo-core subscription left keeping this bug open.... @infra: please subscribe arfrever to gentoo-core mailing list.

Announcement sent. FIXED.
Following DevRel vote in bug 299400 Arfrever's commit access is suspended until 2010-08-17.
Undertakers please retire Arfrever. His gentooAccess has already been removed.
Arfrever was quite active on bugzilla. Maybe give him a little bit more time to reconsider cause it doesn't make much sense to me. Being so active on bugzilla and not carrying about his gentooAccess? Weird...
Arfrever has been reinstated on probation following a DevRel vote. The resolution has been sent to gentoo-core and can also be found in bug 299400.
Reopening for retirement due to bug 363941.
While retirement is going on I have (at least temporarily) removed Arfrever's editbug privilege at a3li's request due to messing with security bugs. Betelgeuse, or whoever else, if you think the should be reverted feel free to do it. I'd rather be safe than sorry with security related matter so I acted immediately upon request until this is sorted out. Denis.
I'm sorry for the delay here, but RL got in the way. Let's proceed with Arfrever's retirement.
I locked Arfrever's bugzilla account per retirement procedure. I also asked infra to drop him from the flycatcher groups (cvs, svn, svnportage). Arfrever, if you wish to track the bugs your account was involved on, you need to create a new account and on the preferences, email preferences add your old account to user watching.
I'm working on appellation to (just elected) Gentoo Council, so please don't act too fast with retirement. In case I am retired, I would like to become proxy maintainer of packages maintained by me (e-mail address: arfrever.fta@gmail.com). Regardless of whether my appellation is accepted or not, I would like to also continue my work in some overlays, so please don't disable my access to these overlays.
No overlay access will be restricted
I unlocked Arferver's bugzilla account so that he could add a note here about his appeal. I've now locked the account again. At this point I'm going to suspend the retirement (leaving things as they are now) until there's a final decision by the council. This means for the time being Arfrever doesn't have access to his gentoo.org bugzilla account, to gentoo-x86 or the cvs/svn/svnportage repositories. @council: You're cc'ed because of Arferver's appeal. @djc: Please comment on Arfrever's request to keep access to the overlays (python overlay). @Arfrever: If you would like to keep access to other overlays, we need to poke their teams to ask whether they're ok with that or not. Please ask them to comment here or poke / mail me and I'll cc them here. Also don't forget to send your appeal to the council alias asap. @tampakrap: Access to the svn/cvs overlays is already restricted. One final note, in case the council rejects your appeal, your access to overlays is subject to the decision of the owners of said overlays.
Again, SVN overlays are not in flycatcher, they are in pelican, which means that his python overlay access is not restricted. As an overlays team member I'd like to inform that we don't restrict the developer's access when he retires, unless the team asks for it, which never happened so far
Okay, well, I'd like to either have the python overlay renamed to arfrever or have Arfrever not be able to commit to it anymore, because it currently doesn't reflect a future or process that the python team is on board with. Maybe the best option would be to copy the python overlay in SVN to an arfrever overlay and revoke Arfrever's commit access to the python overlay. Not sure how the SVN infra is for overlays, but I should hope that's not too hard.
Overlays requests have nothing to do with this bug. Recruiters'/undertakers' job is to grand/restrict access to the official repos, for overlays (unofficial repos) requests please file a separate bug against us (and please come to a decision with Arfrever before you open the bug)
(In reply to comment #25) > Overlays requests have nothing to do with this bug. Recruiters'/undertakers' > job is to grand/restrict access to the official repos, for overlays (unofficial > repos) requests please file a separate bug against us (and please come to a > decision with Arfrever before you open the bug) Theo, in this case the requests are related. The only reason Arfrever has access to overlays now is because of his developer status. By losing that status any access he has to our infrastructure, including overlays, needs to be reviewed. Addressing Dirkjan's request, the python team is the owner of the python overlay, so it's up to you to decide what is done on that overlay and who has access to it.
(In reply to comment #20) > I'm working on appellation to (just elected) Gentoo Council, so please don't > act too fast with retirement. You now had over 2 weeks to present your appeal to the Council and I've yet to receive such appeal in my council inbox. As such, the retirement team will move forward with your retirement. @infra: please proceed with the retirement.
- metadata.xml files cleaned - herds.xml cleaned - Bugs reassigned
Retired in LDAP. Retired in bugs. vcs access removed. Mailing list subscriptions reset. I didn't touch overlay access as that seemed to be in dispute on this bug. Planet and forums are also still needed. -A
He has started his own overlay on Google Code, please retire overlay access as well.
I will appeal to Council when I have time... (In reply to comment #30) > He has started his own overlay on Google Code, please retire overlay access as > well. This suggestion is only about (now dead) Python Overlay, not other overlays hosted on overlays.gentoo.org.
(In reply to comment #31) > I will appeal to Council when I have time... I guess I will add a topic for next council meeting: add to the council docs that appeals to the council have some sort of deadline. You had over 3 months to appeal and I added a note here asking you to do it asap. The retirement process is almost complete now and won't be stopped. > (In reply to comment #30) > > He has started his own overlay on Google Code, please retire overlay access as > > well. > > This suggestion is only about (now dead) Python Overlay, not other overlays > hosted on overlays.gentoo.org. The minute you get retired, access to any gentoo hosted repositories is up to the developers / teams responsible for each of the repositories.
Forums done.
(In reply to comment #30) > please retire overlay access as well. Done. Denis.
(In reply to comment #34) > (In reply to comment #30) > > please retire overlay access as well. > > Done. Comment #30 was about "python" repository, not other repositories. Please revert change made by you and disable access to (now anyway dead) "python" repository.
I second that. Arfrever is active on portage overlay. Please revert the change CC'ing portage to verify that
(In reply to comment #36) > I second that. Arfrever is active on portage overlay. Please revert the change > > CC'ing portage to verify that Yes, he's still active. For example: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/portage.git;a=commit;h=45e9d6db3e1af8303ba724e3b857b3e461f705fc

@arfrever: perhaps it would be fair to stop using the @gentoo.org address, though.
(In reply to comment #39) > @arfrever: perhaps it would be fair to stop using the @gentoo.org address, > though. He has valid forwarding from Oct 13th 2011 + 180 days, so the address is good through April 13th (plus or minus a few days.) After that mail to that address will bounce. -A
