Description Tharrrk 2008-11-14 08:23:38 UTC
Upgrading from synce-0.9.1 to 0.12 lead to this.
Installed files are exactly the same (tried diff).
As a workaround you could set FEATURES="-protect-owned".

There was also some sandbox issue with qt3 plugins lock file, but I'm not sure which ebuild caused that, FEATURES="-sandbox"

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. uninstall synce and its direct dependencies
2. install synce-0.9.1
3. upgrade to synce-0.12

Actual Results:
Both ebuilds install /usr/libexec/synce-serial-chat

Expected Results:
synce-hal installs /usr/libexec/synce-serial-chat only if synce-serial doesn't

synce-0.12 (now in portage) it's a meta-ebuild and doesn't install any files.

reopen if you have any corrections for this

Not synce-0.12 itself, title was modified while assigning a bug by somebody.

Comment 3 Federico Ferri (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-11-16 17:23:51 UTC
after talking with a SynCE developer, it has emerged that app-pda/synce-hal doesn't need /usr/libexec/synce-serial-chat at all, and I tested it by myself and can confirm this.

as a workaround, synce-hal-0.1.ebuild and synce-hal-0.2.ebuild won't install /usr/libexec/synce-serial-chat anymore, and hopefully, the next release of synce-hal won't ship /usr/libexec/synce-serial-chat.

ebuilds are committed to CVS.

thank you

Hi again,

I hope you're not sad you hear again from me :)

If I don't install synce-serial then synce-hal doesn't work properly because /usr/libexec/hal-synce-serial doesn't find /usr/libexec/synce-serial-chat
