Description Nicholas Doyle 2008-11-13 14:58:58 UTC
Banshee 1.4 has been released. Latest in portage is 1.2.1-r2.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Comment 1 Henrique Rodrigues 2008-11-14 01:33:20 UTC
Banshee 1.4.1 is out, too.
Comment 2 Jürgen Geuter 2008-11-18 07:21:19 UTC
I tried building an ebuild, but I think gtk-sharp needs an update for it to properly build. So bumping banshee will probably require bumping a lot of the gnome/mono related packages.
Comment 3 Nicholas Doyle 2008-11-19 16:27:27 UTC
I am not having the same experience as #2. It compiled just fine with no problems at all with dev-dotnet/gtk-sharp-2.10.2 from portage. `./configure` and `make` was all I needed, it compiled just fine and works well.

I get the same as #2, so it's time to fess up and post the output of emerge -pv. Mine:
media-sound/banshee-1.4.1 USE="aac boo encode flac mad podcast vorbis -daap -debug -doc -ipod -mtp -test"
Comment 5 Jürgen Geuter 2008-11-19 17:00:58 UTC
media-sound/banshee-1.4.1 USE="aac boo daap encode flac ipod mad podcast vorbis -debug -doc -mtp -test"

Rechecked. It does not build against the tree (I have the "gnome" and the "sunrise" overlay) and fails with
"Unhandled Exception: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'gdk-sharp, Version=2.12.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=35e10195dab3c99f' or one of its dependencies.
File name: 'gdk-sharp, Version=2.12.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=35e10195dab3c99f'"

Obviously it needs gdk-sharp 2.12.0.0 which probably belongs to gtk-sharp-2.12.something which is not in the tree.

I simply built it from source by hand outside of portage. The current versions of gtk-sharp and gdk-sharp are the latest in portage. Here is a screenshot showing this.

My old banshee was built like so:
media-sound/banshee-1.2.1-r2 USE="aac boo daap doc encode flac ipod mad mtp podcast vorbis -debug -test"

It may or may not be relevant that I am using dev-dotnet/podsleuth-0.6.3 which isn't in portage.
Comment 7 Peter Alfredsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-11-19 19:39:57 UTC
I've gotten it to build now, somehow, by bumping a couple of packages. Nicholas, are you on stable branch? Cause that would explain a lot.
Comment 8 Nicholas Doyle 2008-11-19 22:50:07 UTC
I'm running all ~amd64. (there is no version of banshee that has made it past ~arch yet :) )
Comment 9 wd 2008-11-26 06:19:05 UTC
How can I install this version? I met a block.

[blocks B ] dev-dotnet/glade-sharp ("dev-dotnet/glade-sharp" is blocking dev-dotnet/gtk-sharp-2.12.6)

emerge -C glade-sharp
emerge -1 =gtk-sharp-2.12.6

Remember to get ALL of the packages in package.mask unmasked.

Anyway, this bug is fixed.
