Description Marco Andreolli 2008-11-12 10:18:05 UTC
When I execute acroread, it takes 100% of CPU resource. Although I can use the pc (when acroread is running), I think that this bug would be fixed

Reproducible: Always

With top command, I can see this output:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
  8982 io 20 0 115m 37m 24m R 100 3.7 1:33.98 ld-linux.so.2

Please post your `emerge --info' too.

Also, please sync your portage tree and update to app-text/acroread-8.1.3 which has been marked stable in the last few days. Reopen this bug (and post your `emerge --info') if that version doesn't solve the issue.

I still have this problem with 8.1.3. Unfortunately I can't reopen the bug. Here is the emerge --info output:

Comment 4 Jack 2009-01-18 18:24:55 UTC
This seems similar to (but not quite the same as) bug 211838. Acroread either takes all the CPU or all memory and swap, but more commonly when called from firefox (either in the firefox window or as a standalone app). In my case, I have no problem standalong, but only when called from firefox.

I am having the same problems. Some googling found this:
http://citadel.tistory.com/158

I am evaluating those recommendations to see if it is a suitable solution or not.
