The version is a snapshot but according to the homepage, supposed to be more stable than 1.9.6. Works fine for me and has noticeable improvements. Ebuild attached.

Ok I belive this bug is assigned to a developer who is no longer active. I'll be more than happy to update it however as valgrind is needed by almost every person I work with.
Before updating this can anybody confirm that valgrind is no longer using x.x.x MAJOR,MINOR,BUILD releases anymore The current stable seems to be valgrind-20030725

Ok cool I can run with that naming convention. Valgrind has been updated in the portage tree. I've also subscribed to the freshmeats announcements for new releases so that we can attempt to keep this one upto date. Please test and report back under a new bugid.
