After some updating (it is long time since mpb was rebuild so I do not know which one caused the problem), the revdep-rebuild --ignore nor emerge mpb do not work with following message: * ERROR: sci-physics/mpb-1.4.2-r1 failed. * Call stack: * ebuild.sh, line 49: Called src_compile * environment, line 2780: Called die * The specific snippet of code: * MAKEOPTS="-j1" emake || die; * The die message: * (no error message) * * If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant. * A complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/sci-physics/mpb-1.4.2-r1/temp/build.log'. * The ebuild environment file is located at '/var/tmp/portage/sci-physics/mpb-1.4.2-r1/temp/environment'. which is possibly caused by guile-related problem (build.log follows). Reemergeing guile-1.8.2, 1.8.3-r2 nor 1.8.4 seems to help. matrix-smob.o: In function `sqmatrix2scm': matrix-smob.c:(.text+0x74c): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' matrix-smob.c:(.text+0x760): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' matrix-smob.c:(.text+0x7a6): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' matrix-smob.c:(.text+0x7ab): undefined reference to `scm_master_freelist' matrix-smob.o: In function `evectmatrix_slice2scm': matrix-smob.c:(.text+0xab7): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' matrix-smob.c:(.text+0xacf): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' matrix-smob.c:(.text+0xb6e): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' matrix-smob.c:(.text+0xb73): undefined reference to `scm_master_freelist' matrix-smob.o: In function `evectmatrix2scm': matrix-smob.c:(.text+0xddc): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' matrix-smob.c:(.text+0xdf0): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' matrix-smob.c:(.text+0xe69): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' matrix-smob.c:(.text+0xe6e): undefined reference to `scm_master_freelist' field-smob.o: In function `field2scm': field-smob.c:(.text+0xf33): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' field-smob.c:(.text+0xf4b): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' field-smob.c:(.text+0xf63): undefined reference to `scm_freelist' field-smob.c:(.text+0xf68): undefined reference to `scm_master_freelist' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [mpb] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/sci-physics/mpb-1.4.2-r1/work/mpb-1.4.2/mpb-ctl' make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. revdep-rebuild --ignore 2. 3. It seems you have some guile stuff in /usr/local that could be causing problems: checking for libctl dir... /usr/local/share/libctl

(In reply to comment #2) > It seems you have some guile stuff in /usr/local that could be causing > problems: > > checking for libctl dir... /usr/local/share/libctl > Hi, yes, thanks it was present to quickly fix some guile-related problems and I have forgotten it, nevertheless removing /usr/local/share/{guile,libctl} and reemerging all guile and libctl depending programs does not resolve mpb problem. The error persits. Oh, and sorry for filling the report twice.
(In reply to comment #2) > It seems you have some guile stuff in /usr/local that could be causing > problems: > > checking for libctl dir... /usr/local/share/libctl > Ok, yes, you were right in previous post I tried to remove just libs and have forgotten about /usr/local/include, after renaming /usr/local, everything compiled fine, thanks once more.
