Hi!
I net-im/openfire-3.6.0a as a new clean install. But the webinterface of openfire says, that only 3.6.0 is installed and there is a 3.6.0a Update.

How can this be fixed?

There is no known fix at this time, the 3.6.0a release was a quickfix
for the release 3.6.0, it seems that openfire is not able to handle the
character "a" contained in the current version string.

Many users running it on different platforms are experiencing the same problem[1].
