When kvim is installed and emerge -Du is run, it will first upgrade vim-core to version 6.2-r1 and downgrade to 6.1-r5 the second time it is run. When vim-6.1-r5 is installed with vim-6.2, vim will not work correctly.
I'm reassigning this to the KDE team for the following reasons: - I don't use KDE so I can't build kvim very well. - Kvim appears to be mostly unmaintained upstream these latter days, so I'm not really interested in trying to maintain it. In order to fix this problem, ONE of the following needs to occur: - Kvim needs to support 6.2 - Kvim needs to include its own support files, which would install in /usr/share/kvim (instead of /usr/share/vim) to break the vim-core dependency - Kvim needs to be removed from portage If it's up to me, I'll just remove kvim from portage, which is why I'm reassigning it to the KDE team...
KVim 6.2.14pre1 is released. http://apps.kde.com/fr/2/info/vid/9450?br=true
I'll take this back since it's not making any progress. I'll get it fixed.
kvim-6.2.14 is in portage
