when booting off the livecd it loads _very_ slowly (doing the boot procsess takes about an hour!) and every acsess to the cd creates incredible machine lag. I have had to use the nodma kernel option because it crashes if DMA is enabled for the cdrom (hard drive works fine with dma). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.boot off the livecd 2.select nodma boot option 3.watch it boot very slowly and install very slowly Actual Results: all cd acsess is very slow Expected Results: move along much quicker motherboard chipset is intel 845G
couple of things to try, boot with "acpi" or "gentoo noapm" You may also try the "smp" kernel, its based on 2.4.21. The default is 2.4.20 with a updated ide core.
This bug has been inactive for some time and probably didn't get all the attention it could have. Could you please test with one of the newer LiveCDs and reopen this bug if the problem persists? For now, I'm resolving this as TEST_REQUEST.
