Description Matteo 'The Peach' Pescarin 2008-11-01 21:42:47 UTC
On PowerPC Buffalo Linkstation machines this kernel versions makes them hang at startup, making them unusable, as stated in the URL provided.

Someone should either make one of >2.6.24 stable or provide a new revision with patch

Are you asking for a new 2.6.24 gentoo-sources?
Comment 2 Matteo 'The Peach' Pescarin 2008-11-05 14:31:18 UTC
actually there are two solutions imho:
1) add the patch you can find in the thread linked to a new release of the 2.6.24 branch
2) mask the 2.6.24 on powerpc and release the 2.6.25 as stable, which I don't know if it will work correctly for others (as stated in the linked thread there should be no probs with 2.6.25)

I'm sorry if I annoy you but it's very hard when you're working with a headless system so I want just to avoid someone else problems of this kind.

Commit 0f436eff54f90419ac1b8acc looks like it should fix this, it's included in 2.6.25.

It looks like I forgot to request that ppc mark 2.6.25 stable, oops. But today we requested that they mark 2.6.26 stable, so hopefully this will be fixed soon (bug #245638)
Comment 4 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-11-12 05:47:43 UTC
We've marked 2.6.26 stable on ppc, which should take care of this. Thanks for the heads up!
