Description Lyall Pearce 2008-10-29 09:02:30 UTC
All images which would normally show in the VirtualBox GUI are not present in the final install.
The VirtualBox GUI application generates many error messages indicating that the images are missing.

Qt WARNING: QPixmap::fromImage: Cannot convert a null image

The images used to be present in the 1.6 series.

Additionally, I note that the Additions package is still 1.6.4, rather than 2.0.4 - which I assume corresponds with the 2.0.4 VirtualBox release.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge virtualbox-ose
2. in an xterm shell, run 'VirtualBox'
3. On display of the GUI, many warnings are generated

Actual Results:
No Icons or picture elements are shown in the GUI and there are many Warnings shown on stdout/stderr ( not sure which )

Expected Results:
No warnings on stdout and icons on the GUI display.

VirtualBox seems to function satisfactorily, it is only an appearance issue.

I checked the VirtualBox tar.bz2 file in distfiles, there is an entire VBox/Frontends/VirtualBox/images directory, which is absent in the install.

Please post output from 'emerge --info'.

It sounds like you may have emerged virtualbox-ose-2.0.4 without USE=additions, so virtualbox-additions did not get built this time (the virtualbox-additions that matched your old virtualbox was left lying around).

Nope, additions included. I have also added the emerge --info

# emerge --color=n --verbose --pretend virtualbox-ose

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

i wasn't able to reproduce this problem on different installation/machines

This is strange, the ebuild pushes the same version of virtualbox-modules
(see it's RDEPEND), is your portage tree ok and synced ?

The ebuild never installed any artwork/image with the exception of the desktop icon (virtualbox-ose.png), please attach to this bug in a file the
output of the following command (from app-portage/portage-utils):

qlist virtualbox-ose

As requested.
The Additions issue is no longer a problem, not sure why.
The images not being installed as a part of the build, still exists.

Is this still an issue with 2.1.4 ?
