I've actually added mips-sources-2.6.27.4 to the tree last night. Can you give that a shot? I don't have a hard drive in my Indy anymore, so I haven't been able to test IP22 stuff in some time.
The upstream kernel works ok for MIPS, but given the number of different mips platforms out there, it is hard to be 100% that it always works on all of them. However, this should not be a reason to not have ~mips in gentoo-sources so I will add it to all the ebuilds.
I've added ~mips to gentoo-sources-3.10.1 which has now propagated to 3.10.2.
