It looks like real has possibly updated this file since the last ebuild, because it complains that the md5sums don't match. I tried redownloading the file and got the same checksum, so I don't think my file is corrupt. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. download http://docs.real.com/docs/playerpatch/unix/rv9_libc6_i386_cs2.tgz 2. fill out the form at http://forms.real.com/real/player/unix/unix.html to get rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs2.bin 3. place files in /usr/portage/distfiles 4. emerge realplayer Actual Results: !!! File does not exist: /usr/portage/distfiles//rv9_libc6_i386_cs2.tgz Since I was downloading the binary file from real player servers, I just gave them the benifit of the doubt and modified /usr/portage/media-video/realplayer/files/digest-realplayer-8-r6 in the portage directory to reflect the digest reported by the downloaded file. I do not recommend this if you don't trust realplayers sources...do it at your own risk.

I'm not the original reporter, but was having the same problem. It seems to work for me now. I also may have not been downloading rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs2.bin :-(
it should automatically download rv9* if you have x86. but otherwise, all the other .bin files need to be manually downloaded. since i can't reproduce it and now one else is complaining, i'm going to close this one
