Description Anes Lihovac 2003-07-13 06:53:56 UTC
I just did emerge rsync; emerge -u world. xpm was one of the packages which was
updated. The installed version is xpm-3.4k-r2. The strange thing is, that the
installed package does not contain any single file. A epm -ql xpm gives me nothing.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

2.
3.

Different other applications like wmCalClock, wmmon, wmix etc. also don't run
after "updating" the xpm package. The thing is, that since xpm is included in
XFree the xpm ebuild is just a dummy. Now, when "updating" xpm-3.4k-r2 und as
such unmerging xpm-3.4k-r1 the old libXpm* files get removed...
Re-emerging xfree solves the problem.

yes, fernando explained it ...

xpm is part of xfree ... if you are missing xpm library files, re-emerge/update xfree
