Description Tobias Leupold 2008-10-20 12:33:41 UTC
In my KDE 4.1.2 installation, nepomuk does not work at all.

If I do a rating for a file, the stars are only displayed until I switch to another file and disappear next time I want to check the file. Additionally, if I label a file, some strange text like nepomuk:/lGa5R...and-so-on appears instead of the label's name. Than, that label shows the same behaviour as the starts: it disappears on the next visit.

Perhaps strigi being also broken (see bug #241302), is related to this?

Here's my emerge --info:

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Tobias Leupold 2008-11-10 00:36:55 UTC
Still the same problem with KDE 4.1.3
Comment 2 Tobias Leupold 2008-11-28 21:24:44 UTC
Still the same with kde-4.1.80.

But it works fine when USE="kdeprefix" is not set. BUT: if a KDE 3.5.10 (the latest testing version) is started after a USE="-kdeprefix" install it's totally fucked up, I get a mixed KDE-3-4-desktop, the start menu is empty, etc. Even after deinstalling KDE 4, recovering a backup of ~/.kde and running kbuildsycoca, not everything is as it was before. This is surely NOT what the average user wants ...
Comment 3 Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-29 16:54:46 UTC
Seems like now this is fixed. (upated kde3 and kde4 eclasses so they can live more next to each other + kdedir env fixes)
Cause i am just now sitting on -kdeprefix and have kde3.5 around, and use nepomuk ratings in dolphin.

Fell free to reopen if it is still borked with latest 4.2.3
