Description Łukasz Sowiński 2008-10-20 06:13:32 UTC
This problem was reported in the Redhat bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=461373

Luckily, a (let's hope) working patch has been provided there as well.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. USE="qt4" emerge =app-i18n/scim-bridge-0.4.15*
2. Set 'export QT_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge'
3. Append 'DefaultInputMethod=scim-bridge' to ~/.config/Trolltech.conf
4. Start >=kate-4.0*
5. Type some text (preferably something important) and select it.
6. Change focus, by f.i. 1) selecting another opened document, 2) opening some dialog box (like Open...), etc.
7. Go back to the edited text.

Actual Results:
Selected text is gone.

I have following (scim related packages) installed at the moment:
=app-i18n/scim-1.4.7-r1
=app-i18n/scim-anthy-1.2.6
=app-i18n/scim-bridge-0.4.15-r2
=app-i18n/scim-qtimm-0.9.4-r1

I have marked this bug 'critical' because it causes 'data lose'. Seriously, try editing many small files at the same time in Kate and see how spontaneous this deletion may be.

Thank you very much.

Thank you! This works perfectly for me.
