This looks like an issue with whichever package installed /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/x86_64-linux/auto/Gtk2/Gtk2.so. To find out, could you please run: emerge portage-utils and then: qfile /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/x86_64-linux/auto/Gtk2/Gtk2.so This will tell us which package installed this file, and we can then find out why it doesn't include the gtk_tool_shell_get_type symbol, and how we can ensure that the ebuild requires it properly when this happens...
Ok, the culprit was dev-perl/gtk2-perl-1.200. For some strange reason, the re-emerging of gtk2-perl rectified the situation, and I was able to install dvdrip-0.98.8-r3 properly. Thanks!
No problem, I'm going to mark this as FIXED, but feel free to reopen it if the problem comes back and you'd like us to investigate... 5:)
