this sounds like an upstream problem. Do you want points or shall we do it for you ?
Comment 2 Phy 2008-10-22 01:00:57 UTC
Go ahead and fix it; I can't code.
Thanks.

Gilles meant "do you want to open a bug on Gnome' bugzilla yourself?"...

Thanks

Comment 5 Phy 2008-10-23 11:51:07 UTC
Fixed upstream. Selecting no longer freezes the terminal.
VTE now requires dev-util/glade to build.

Reopening. We don't have that fix yet.
Comment 7 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2008-10-28 11:56:20 UTC
... and fixed with 0.17.4-r1 by grabbing the patch in, as a 0.17.5 release didn't seem to happen for GNOME-2.24.1 tarballs.

Thanks for the great upstream work!

This fix breaks copying&pasting from the alternate screen, e.h. what you get in a "less" or any command line editor like nano or joe, which just plain sucks. Please revert or fix correctly.

- execute "less somefile"
- Mark some text
- leave less (q)
- paste

-> fail

Sorry, I'm aware. Will deal with upstream on this over the weekend. You can downgrade meanwhile, 0.17.4-r0 should still be there.
Comment 10 Christophe Saout 2008-10-31 14:58:32 UTC
Chris Wilson has fixed the post-fix issue upstream.

FYI, this is now also in vte-0.17.4-r2
