With 2.4.21-pfeifer_pre1 I got a system freeze at boot during loading usb-ochi, with the 2.4.21-pfeifer_pre2 I got module loaded correctly, but nothing works (usb logitech mouse, usb-storage digital camera). With 2.4.20-gaming-r5 all works correctly. I have a nforce2-based motherboard, here is lspci -vvv: 00:00.0 Host bridge: nVidia Corporation: Unknown device 01e0 (rev a2) Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- oh, and also add pci=biosirq Jay
actually, nforce2 has some flaky apic issues. and it is known to not allocate and irq to the USB when all the on-board periperals are activated. you'll probably get success using 'noapic'. i've already contacted several others running nforce2 with usb mice and this kernel and no issues, however 2 of them are using noapic.
