Are you using net-wireless/iwl4965-ucode by any chance?

Yes i do use it

afaik 2.6.26 utilizes iwlwifi-4965-1.ucode and 2.6.27 utilizes *-2.ucode

today i recognized that i have similar issues with the new iwlagn driver in 2.6.27, too

Have you had this card reliably working under Linux under any configuration? (different kernel/driver/firmware/...) or has this bug always been present, in your experience?

I have bought the laptop with this card in January 2008. So I started with the

net-wireless/iwlwifi driver first (I believe with 2.6.24 Gentoo sources, but I do not know exactly). Here it worked perfectly. The 2.6.25 built in iwl4965 was ok as well.

Last weekend I started to play around with the wireless configuration of my router (Juniper 5GT, ScreenOS 5.4.0r8.0). The situation went absolutely better when I changed the Beacon Interval from 100msec (default) to 500msec. Now I had already 3 days in sequence without any serious interruptions. I even can watch TV via MythTV through wireless now.

Really strange

Are you interested in diagnosing this further?

If so, we could try and get the upstream developers on the case. But, if you have time, performing the following process would be really valuable:
http://www.reactivated.net/weblog/archives/2006/01/using-git-bisect-to-find-buggy-kernel-patches/

You can mark 2.6.25 as good and 2.6.26 as bad, and then we will find the exact commit which introduced this bug.

Hopefully I can help with this one

I am using the same card on my laptop. I havent noticed this problem even though I am connecting to many different AP

I have compiled is a a module in kernel and I am using net-wireless/iwl4965-ucode-228.57.2.21

Try use the 228.57.2.21 instead of 228.57.1.21 . Also try the latest gentoo-sources(2.6.27-gentoo-r5)

Thanks
