I am trying to install Gentoo to a machine that have no Internet access. The 
problem is that I cannot get Portage install because the next lines try to 
connect to the internet.

# emerge sync


How can I get Portage installed on that laptop to continue the install?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.no internet access 
2.execute Code listing 9.1: Updating Using sync

Actual Results:  
Error on internet connection and cannot continue with install

Expected Results:  
have at least an old version of portage on the cd so that people without 
internet acces can install Gentoo Linux

This has been changed in

and presumably also on the GRP LiveCDs.

Resolving as FIXED.
