[URL in URL] The kde4-guide hints section mentions several packages without ebuilds in the tree. Now that kde-4.1.2 /is/ in the tree and unmasked, those need either deleted or a link to the overlay provided. Meanwhile, kde-base/kdeplasma-addons doesn't seem to be mentioned, and didn't appear to be in any of the sets, at least the ones I merged. As it /is/ in the tree, mentioning it should be useful. Maybe make it part of kdeoptional? Also, probably belonging in the install section, some may find an official description of a way to disable semantic desktop useful. I remembered and dredged up a comment on the amd64 list that mentioned it (USE=-nepomuk, -semantic-desktop). And for those that want it, a warning on how large the database may grow (and where it's located) may be useful. Back in testing, I had it grow to several gigs. My /home partition is only 10 gigs in size since I keep my mail/news/multimedia archives elsewhere, and that's what takes up the space, but I set that up some time ago, not expecting all that data on other partitions to be trawled to fill in a database back on /home. For people with multiple users, that could add up to tens of gigs pretty quickly, much of it duplicated if many of the media files are commonly accessed. Finally, again for the install section, a mention of what needs done to get kde4 without having to install the still unfree (reference the license) Sun Java stuff would be useful. I spent quite some time figuring out that one. The soprano (which appears to be non-optional) ebuild defaults to sesame2 unless USE=redland, and sesame2 is java based, with the only one to fill the virtual (at least on amd64) being Sun's version. So to NOT pull in Sun Java, one must build soprano USE=redland AND USE=-sesame2.
kdeplasma-addons and java things are fixed. The second paragraph gave me an idea to refer to kde use flags in general, added in my to do list
From what i can see our guide was updated and this bug is no longer relevant. Thanks for the report.
