Description Alex Weiss 2008-10-12 05:25:21 UTC
For some odd reason, power control sometimes does not work. I have tried numerous things to try and isolate what is wrong.

A few things about the system. I have power control activated in kde and in xorg.conf (the times are the same).

xset dpms force off works.

Sometimes, even when power control works or I manually turn it off with the above command, something causes the screen to come back on and not shut back down (I have never witnessed this, just came in after waking up to find the screen on).

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Set DPMS in xorg.conf or kde
2.
3.

Actual Results:
DPMS is unreliable and sometimes fails to come on.

Expected Results:
DPMS should reliably turn off the monitor when asked.

I did not always have this problem and I use mplayer.

I've checked, this patch appears to be in KDE 4.3.3. Closing.
