Description Jason Wever (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-07-08 17:47:09 UTC
Looking for an addition of a new status flag for bugs. What this would do
essentially is would indicate to the viewer that the given bug is a
vendor/upstream bug and not a Gentoo related bug, but that the bug will be kept
in a pending status until a fix is available.

IMHO, this is a _very_ important feature that the bug tracking system of every distribution should have.

It not only provides a way to document why something is going wrong, and shows who to blame :), but it also provides a strong link between the Gentoo Developers and the upstream developers.

Actually, I have in mind several bugs that I haven't reported because they are the upstream developers fault, and I know that with the current resolution scheme, they'll be marked as later of as wontfix.

I suggested a resolution NOTOURBUG recently, after noticing that some other
bugzillas have it or similar for sending bugs back upstream or downstream,
depending on whose bugzilla it is.
