Description FieldySnuts 2003-07-07 13:27:50 UTC
dev-perl/Mail-SpamAssassin 2.55-r1 installs /etc/conf.d/spamd in such a way that
it does not specify what user spamd should run as. So when it is started via
/etc/init.d/spamd , spamd defaults to root. I run exim, and it runs as mail. So
i tried running spamd as mail, and it worked out fine. Mileage with other
servers may vary(?).

By adding, in /etc/conf.d/spamd , in SPAMD_OPTS the string "-u mail" , spamd
will be run as user mail.

Unless this is a problem with other mail servers, I think this might be a good
default.

I ran into no other problems, spamassassin was a cinch to install. Thanks for
your work on the ebuild!

I've added a note to the spamd.conf indicating this - thanks for the catch :)
