Failes during configure. Parsing the config.log I found this:

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge colorgcc
2. CC="colorgcc" emerge gaim

Actual Results:  
won't start compilation

Expected Results:  
strat compilation

running -x86

does gaim emerge when you dont set CC to colorgcc ?

CC="gcc" works fine.
