Description Daniel Nilsson 2008-10-08 05:59:05 UTC
The timestamp of the portage tree on the ing.umu.se rsync mirror is now two days old.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
emerge --sync

Actual Results:
Timestamps on the server and in the local repository are the same.
Cancelling all further sync action. You are already up to date.

Expected Results:
Up to date partage tree.

I use this rsync setting:
SYNC="rsync://rsync.se.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"

The mirror is now about a week old.
I found that there is a page with mirror status: http://mirrorstats.gentoo.org/rsync/
Couldn't that be used to automatically take mirrors out of the rotations so that end users doesn't have to wait for retries?

Since nothing seems to have happened and the server is still out of date I searched a bit and found an administrator contact at http://www.ing.umu.se/?content=admins (swedish). I have sent an e-mail telling them about the problem.

Daniel,

Apologies for not getting to this earlier, it somehow got missed.

I'll intimate the admins as well.

We are working on an automated system already :) on far better lines than that page...

Okay, the admin email I have trac at ing...isn't valid on Bugzilla...

I'll give them two days to respond to your post, if there is nothing I'll take them out of rotation.

Marten please have a look, thanks.

I've got an answer from Samuel, an admin at ing.umu.se, and he says the the update script had failed. He says that he has corrected the problem and I can verify that the timestamp is up to date now. => RESOLVED FIXED.

Please don't close the bugs, we'd like to verify once you've reported an issue.
Comment 8 Shyam Mani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-14 17:15:27 UTC
Daniel,

I'd also like Samuel/any other admin to give us updated contact information on Bugzilla here. Would it be possible for you to give me an email address or something for them?

There is just no way to contact them in case of issues like this unless we have updated contact info.
Comment 9 Daniel Nilsson 2008-10-14 17:23:44 UTC
Sorry about closing, I won't do that next time.
I sent mail to the same address that armin76 added to CC.
