sci-chemistry/platon-20080725 (on x86) basicaly works, but manifests queer problems, mainly it ignores command line options (or at least file names to read stated on the command line). The need to type the input file name in the Platon window is somewhat annoying (especially as pasting of the name from clipboard works neither). Removing -lf2c and company from the ebuild has resolved the problem for me.
Created attachment 167436 [details, diff] platon-20080725-20080924.ebuild.diff Diff from platon-20080725.ebuild using the f2c library to my platon-20080924.ebuild that relies on gfortran solely. I've updated the version number according to the advance at the Platon site as well.
Hi Honza, Thanks much for the note and I'll have a look at this. Best, Markus
Since I am not a platon user, would you perhaps be able to post a short example session + files that would allow me to reproduce and test these issues. Thank you very much. Best, Markus
Created attachment 167458 [details] CB8H9-.pdb An example PDB file for platon. Any other should do. When linked with -lf2c (the 20080725 ebuild in the portage tree), `platon CB8H9-.pdb` produces a platon window stating ``NO PROPER INPUT FILE FOUND''. Entering the command "file CB8H9-.pdb" in the platon window nevertheless works. When linked without f2c (my 20080924 ebuild), platon happily accepts its input file from the command line.
Thank you very much for providing the instructions. I have removed linking against lib2c and platon now seems to work as expected. Thanks, Markus
