matroxset is a utility to customize your matroxfb-device. Very useful for tvout and such. I would want it in portage. (i hope i chose the right "component")
Created attachment 5400 [details] First matroxset Ebuild An ebuild for matroxset. Until this is in the repository you can use it by defining PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/home/<yourusername>/ebuilds" in make.conf and then extracting this file into that directory. It should look likt /home/<yourusername>/ebuilds/media-video/matroxset" Enjoy. Sean
Hi Sean. Thank you for the submission! And sorry for a long delay. I have checked out the ebuild. It seems to be Ok. However the LICENSE is not specified, nor I was able to find it anywhere. I emailed the author (I hope this is him: Petr Vandrovec <vandrove@vc.cvut.cz>) and aksed him about licensing. Lets see the results (I'll hold the ebuild from inclusion for now, since no license means prohibited by default. Any public domain source should contain indication of that). Also, there are absolutely no docs! I realise this is a simplistic utility, however just installing 3 binaries is not very good. 'matroxset -h' seems to produce some output, which might be used to create some basic README I guess. Do you have any traces of anything better than that by chance? George
There are a few FAQs that touch on it, but there isn't a document per se: http://davedina.apestaart.org/download/doc/Matrox-TVOUT-HOWTO-0.1.txt http://www3.sympatico.ca/dan.eriksen/matrox_tvout/g450_tvout_howto.html http://www.netnode.de/howto/matrox-fb.html
Hi Sean. Sorry for such a delay. This kind of got lost due to wait for the reply by the author and the freezes that followed :(. Anyway, I added this utility to portage now, and its even on the same version on that site still :). BTW, Petr said, that only matroxset should be installed, and other files "are just (almost unusable) demo scripts". Also, I created a short README, mentioning the author and listing the links you provided. Please test. George
Thanks for the update. I'll try and test it in the near future and let you know hoe it goes. Sean
This is already in stable.
