I haven't exactly had any luck emerging a free JVM on ~amd64, so I at least am ignoring this for now.

Caster built with no proprietary stuff installed. Also have you tried icedtea6 in java overlay? Please file bugs on failures if not already filed.
Yes, I am not looking for binaries or overlay ebuilds.

kawa-1.9.90 is in lisp overlay. It seems to build just fine. Did anyone try it yet?
