After finally getting vmware-modules to compile on 2.6.25 (thanks, Mike), vmware-workstation won't run. The networking starts fine, but when I try to start the program, I get an hourglass for about thirty seconds, and then nothing. I eventually found this in /tmp/vmware-user/ui-28576.log Oct 04 13:42:53: vmui| Log for VMware Workstation pid=28576 version=5.5.7 build=build-91707 option=Release Oct 04 13:42:53: vmui| Using log file /tmp/vmware-user/ui-28576.log Oct 04 13:42:53: vmui| HAL05LoadHALLibraries: dlopened libhal.so.1. It looks like this might have been related to -mfpmath=sse (see bug 223449). Please re-sync your portage tree (after a couple of hours, the updates only just went in), then try rebuilding vmware-modules. If you're still encountering these problems, do let me know and reopen this bug...
