before emerge de xsystem i put in the USE variable the xv, opengl & dga
settings. I've a k6-2 with a Nvidia TnT2 with the nvidia.com drivers.
The xvinfo command say:
Xlib:  extension "XVideo" missing on display ":0.0".
xvinfo: No X-Video Extension on :0.0

From /usr/portage/x11-base/xfree/files/4.2.0-r9/site.def:

#define BuildXvExt YES

I thus recommend that you reread the docs that comes with the nvidia drivers,
or maybe the Desktop Guide on www.gentoo.org, as this is most probibly a
configuration problem.

If you attach your XF86Config, maybe we can help.
