My net file contained the lines dhcp_eth1="nodns" dns_servers_eth1=( "194.168.4.100" "194.168.8.100" ) Once I upgraded to dhcpcd 4.0.1 the dhcpcd client started overwriting resolv.conf. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Put the dhcp and dns_servers lines into your net file! 2.Make sure you're running dhcpcd vn 4 3. Actual Results: When I did ps -Af | grep dhcpcd after starting the interface it reported: root 12248 1 0 09:46 ? 00:00:00 /sbin/dhcpcd -h gold -R eth1 so it's taking no notice of the nodns option. I then replaced the dhcp_eth1 line witb: dhcpcd_eth1="-O domain_name_servers" stopped the interface and cleared resolv.conf.When I restarted the interface it ignored the dns_servers option and left resolv.conf blank. dhcpcd-4.0.2 is being stabilised for all arches right now. Does it solve your problem?
That's bug #238731, btw.
Emerged the new dhcpcd and did the following 1) restarted the interface with nodns option and it leaves resolv.conf alone. OK 2) added dns_servers and restarted. It overwrites resolv.conf with dns_servers. OK 3) removed both options and restarted interface. It overwrites resolv.conf from dhcp. OK.
