I received an internal compiler error when trying to compile several packages, someone on the forum recommended re-emerging gcc. I tried that and it resulted another internal compiler error which stated I should file a bug. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge gcc -av (In the error it states: "The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem.") Here is the tail of the emerge: gcc -O -DENABLE_CHECKING -DENABLE_ASSERT_CHECKING -DIN_GCC -W -Wall -Wwrite-strings -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -pedantic -Wno-long-long -Wno-variadic-macros -Wold-style-definition -Wmissing-format-attribute -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-4.1.2/work/gcc-4.1.2/gcc -I/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-4.1.2/work/gcc-4.1.2/gcc/. -I/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-4.1.2/work/gcc-4.1.2/gcc/../include -I/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-4.1.2/work/gcc-4.1.2/gcc/../libcpp/include -c insn-attrtab.c \ -o insn-attrtab.o /var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-4.1.2/work/gcc-4.1.2/gcc/config/i386/i386.md: In function 'insn_default_latency': /var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-4.1.2/work/gcc-4.1.2/gcc/config/i386/i386.md:207: internal compiler error: in get_expr_operands, at tree-ssa-operands.c:1330 Please submit a full bug report, with preprocessed source if appropriate. The problem actually turned out to be a hardware issue, ram to be specific. I ran a memtest86 and it reported 14 issues on one ram chip (1 of 2), I removed the chip, rebooted and recompiled with no problem.
