Arch teams, could you stabilize this one? To test it once installed, run ginsh and try some examples as in http://www.ginac.de/tutorial/What-it-can-do-for-you.html Thanks

I am running a mostly stable system but have some base-system packages, namely sys-devel/gcc-4.3.1-r1 and sys-libs/glibc-2.8_p20080602, from ~x86. For me these tests don't fail. They only do after downgrading to gcc-4.1.2 (and recompiling cln).
With the cln fix suggested on Bug 238444, ginac is fine on sparc and can go stable once the fix is incorporated into cln. On another note, the tutorial for testing ginac at http://www.ginac.de/tutorial/What-it-can-do-for-you.html is a bit misleading. After the a=3^150; check, we actually have that: > a = 3^150; 369988485035126972924700782451696644186473100389722973815184405301748249 > expand((1+a^(1/5)-a^(2/5))^3); -76177348045865282373834622339696787648077489952280477743262526033023088555780436698151 If you do this, all is well: > expand((1+z^(1/5)-z^(2/5))^3); 1-z^(6/5)+3*z-5*z^(3/5)+3*z^(1/5) which is the same as in the example cited, but in a different order. I'm not going to worry much about that.
With the fix to cln in Bug #238444, sparc can handle the tutorial examples, but the internal tests give identical results as those Markus attached in Attachment 166676 [details]. On sparc, the stable gcc version is: sys-devel/gcc-4.1.2
> test suite fails on amd64/x86, build log attached. I can confirm: works with gcc-4.3 (and icc), not with gcc-4.1.2. As a result, I will call you later, with either a stable gcc-4.3 or working ginac/testsuite with gcc-4.1.2.
Created attachment 166866 [details] build.log I tried to figure out if at least one of them could go stable. So I tried =sci-mathematics/ginac-1.4.3 and =sci-libs/cln-1.1.13 -> tests fail =sci-mathematics/ginac-1.3.7 and =sci-libs/cln-1.2.2 -> ginac configure script does not detect cln (see build.log)
I reduced optimization to -O1 for gcc < 4.2 in the ebuild. Could you guys try to stabilize this guy again? Thanks!
amd64/x86 stable

1.5.1 stable instead for ppc
sparc stable, closing
