mail-client/mozilla-thunderbird-2.0.0.16 (and earlier versions in Portage) can not change the case of a folder name. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Right-click on a folder. 2. Select "Change name" or "Properties". 3. Change the case if a letter in the name (for example "GEntoo" -> "Gentoo"). 4. Press OK. Actual Results: An error popup dialog says: A folder with that name already exists. Write another name. Expected Results: The name is changed. A workaround is to change the name to something different and then change to the intended name with correct case.
I only see this behaviour with local mail folders. Using cyrus as the imap server name changes work: Folder to folder to FOLDER to Folder. Installed versions: 2.0.0.16 Are your mail folders locally stored?

Tried with -bin?
(In reply to comment #3) > Tried with -bin? No, never tried any version of the mail-client/mozilla-thunderbird-bin package.

Created attachment 174377 [details] /tmp/emerge--info Same for me. Old bug. I think it may already be reported upstream. Check it.
Also update the summary: can repro with 2.0.0.18
(In reply to comment #7) > Also update the summary: can repro with 2.0.0.18 > If you can reproduce please reopen and update bug summary. 2.x is no longer supported by gentoo now that we have stabilized 3.0
Inbox => New folder = "Plop" Plop => Rename = "PlOp" => A folder with that name already exists. Inbox was choosen in the local folders. To make sure thise was not an Imap limitation :) => reproductible with 3.0.3 . Can not update title because I don't have power in this bug.
Please some one reopen this bug.
(In reply to comment #10) > Please some one reopen this bug. > Actually will not be fixed, it is due to support for windows that you can not rename using same name as existing folder.
As as I said this is due to windows support which will not be fixed.
So, because one stupid OS has limitations, all other OS must endure them ??? Why not limit folder names and email subjects to 8 character length to ensure DOS 6.22 compatibility ?
This bug is certainly valid in Gentoo (although not serious because of the workaround). I do not care about other systems.
