New version available from sourceforge with a lot of changes. Autoconf is used
now instead of Imake and according to the changelog all the debian patches have
been applied.

New xclip ebuild is not in portage (I have just emerge --sync). The availability of new ebuild is rellevant as it allows to copy-and-paste with unicode. See this thread in debian bugzilla:
