Description Gilles Schintgen 2003-07-01 13:27:11 UTC
Well, I wanted to see what's the presentation mode like but I couldn't since the
TeXmacs window simply disappears immediatly when I selected View / Presentation
Mode. Yet it seems to be still alive: if I run it from konsole it doesn't return me to the
prompt, I have to ctrl-c it. I just noticed that file dialogs (load) don't disappear.
I'm using KDE as window manager.
Obviously unsaved text cannot be recovered (or at least I don't know how).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Menu: View
2. Presentation Mode
3.
Actual Results:
The main window disappears.

Expected Results:
Some form of fullscreen mode was expected. But I don't really know...

relatively new and up to date Gentoo installation.
Kde 3.1.2 as only window manager.

Unfortunately, presentation mode only works under GNOME. I don't know if there's any work under way to make it run under KDE. This issue was brought up in the texmacs user's mailing list around march 2003. If you want more info, you can search for "presentation" and "gnome" in the mailing list archive at http://lists.texmacs.org/wws

thanks for the pointers anthony. any suggestions on how we should proceed here ? i've looked at the mailing-lists and it looks like kde's non-working state is known about, window manager decorations causing the problem in particular, however i cant see documentation of progress on this. i'm working on the newest stable texmacs for portage (1.0.1.23) which should be available in a few hours, so if you can test with that, would be much appreciated.

okay, i can reproduce this easily, tested under both kdm/kde and
metacity/gnome. however i've looked and i can't see any patches or similar to
fix this under kdm. neither does the changelog mention anything about kdm or
kde fixes, so for now i'm going to have to mark this as cantfix. it's a known
problem upstream, but without any patches, i cant fix this at our end, sorry
guys.
