missing emerge --info.

Could you also list all versions of docbook-xml-dtd you have installed on your system ?

Of course, here you are:
 4.5
 4.4-r1 (currently installed version)
 4.3
 4.3-r1
 4.2-r1
 4.2-r2
 4.1.2-r6
Comment 4 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-20 22:16:21 UTC
could you paste emerge --info and also emerge -pv gdm ?

You also probably want to rebuild docbook-xml-dtd 4.1.2-r6 to see if it helps. You may have a corrupted catalog ?

Sure thing, see attachment

It worked. I masked the docbook-xml-dtd so that the version above would be installed.

What do you mean by that?

normally you don't have to do that, you can either do emerge -1 \=app-text/docbook-xml-dtd-4.1.2-r6 or emerge -1 app-text/docbook-xml-dtd:4.1.2 since this is the only version in this slot :)

according to the result of the previous test, it appears you had a locally corrupted copy of the docbook 4.1.2 dtd, maybe a faulty disk or a crash of the box led to this, anyway, closing, feel free to report any other bug you find.
