<opt>+<fn>+<fn#> does not switch virtual consoles. Installed from stage3 tarball on gentoo-ppc-1.4_rc7-kde to PowerBook Lombard (400MHz G3) I've verfied that... 1. /etc/inittab is configured to create 6 terminals (by calling /sbin/agetty), 2. /sbin/agetty exists 3. /dev/vtty# character device files exist (as links to /dev/vc/## device files), 4. /proc/tty/devices and /proc/ldiscs each have reasonable contents. `who` returns my userid logged-in to tty1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Press the <option> key, the <fn> key, and any of the <f#> keys across the top. Actual Results: Nothing. Expected Results: Should switch between virtual consoles.
I assume you have pbbuttonsd installed. This will tweak the fn#-keys to be the default without pressing fn. Please try to press only <opt>+<fn#>. You can change this behaviour in the /etc/pbbuttonsd.conf (kbdmode = fkeyslast).
I apologize: EVERY kernel configuration option was set correctly -by-default- except for "Support for ADB raw keycodes" (so I did not verify its' setting). This feature _should_ have been disabled but was not (and I did not follow the installation procedure).
I'm reassigning to kainz with the following request: would it be possible to have the livecd .config as a default kernel config when emerging a kernel, or should I create my own ppc-livecd-sources category? What do you think is best? Pieter
I'm cc'ing livewire on this, genkernel guy. Maybe he can use the ppc (works on most machines) config. http://dev.gentoo.org/~pvdabeel/kernel/ for livecd ppc kernel .configs Pieter
