Description Artem Baguinski 2002-05-03 04:58:26 UTC
Hi

first of all, there's a big confusion with the version numbers of jpeg-mmx
library. the one ebuild for which i found in gentoo (1.1.2) is some neglected
orphan, the mainstream authors reject any relation to it. according to Ronald
Bultje (one of the authors of the thing) the newest version is 0.1.4_rc1.

so i wrote the ebuild for the 0.1.4_rc1, which i'm attaching to this bugreport.
i also think something should be done with the old version, which will be
considered higher. namely, ebuild has to disappear, to not confuse portage.

cheers

hey, good work - could you confirm that the the new version (0.1.4) which
was released yesterday also works? thanks.

i won't remove the old ebuild though - as it is probably needed by something
else - this is what SLOTS where designed for :-)

My comment on this problem is since only mjpegtools relies on 1.1.2 that maybe
we should just remove the 1.1.2 ebuild merge in the 0.1.4 ebuild to the ports
tree and modifiy mjpegtools to reflect the updated ebuild of jpeg-mmx.
