Description Bob Raitz 2008-09-18 07:31:29 UTC
sys-fs/udev-128 causes previously visible shares to disappear from konqueror's "Storage Media". The mount is still mounted and accessible at mount point /mnt/winXP. However, it's icon does not show up under konqueror.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge sys-fs/udev-128
2. reboot
3. lose NTFS mount icon.

Actual Results:
Returning to udev-127-r1 fixed the problem for the time being.

Expected Results:
I expected to be able to click on my NTFS partition, as always.

Having the same issue. I have two usb-storage devices with ntfs. The one formatted with Windows XP is not recognized but the one formated with mkfs.ntfs is. I have traced the problem to udev-128 /extras/volume-id/lib/util.c:405 (called from ntfs.c). Both udev127 and udev128 call lseek(5, 0xc0000c00, 0) but udev128 fails where udev127 succeeds. I'm not sure where to take it from here.
BTW: This is not a konqueror issue, it is an issue with udev not supplying the ID_FS attributes when recognizing the filesystem.
Comment 2 Yar Odin 2008-09-23 07:05:17 UTC
Same to me for ntfs
Comment 3 Tom-Steve Watzke 2008-09-23 09:16:27 UTC
Same for me.

Additional side effects:
Using ntfs-3g i can mount the internal windows partitions (e.g. hda1, hda2),
yet i cannot mount them with gnome-mount. (By the way, one is FAT32)
It shows the error message: "Cannot mount volume. You are not privileged to mount the volume '...'".
Comment 4 Scott Tester 2008-10-05 23:02:00 UTC
The issue seems to be fixed in 129 which is in the tree. Is this the case with everyone else?
Comment 5 Bob Raitz 2008-10-06 04:54:32 UTC
Yes, this is verified. I am running udev-129, and I have my NTFS partition showing as expected. I suppose that means this bug can die.

Blessed be!
Pappy

The buggy udev-128.ebuild was removed, so marking fixed.
