Description Alexander Berntsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-16 18:51:31 UTC
nvidia-settings refuses to write to xorg.conf. it gives a "Segmentation fault".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start nvidia-settings
2. change something (anything) with the X Server Display Configuration
3. try to "Save to xorg.conf"

Actual Results:
a crash. if you run from terminal, it will say "Segmentation fault".

Expected Results:
write the new configuration to xorg.conf.

Comment 2 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-16 20:37:10 UTC
Does it try to write to /etc/X11/xorg.conf? (I can see how that would fail when an unpriviledged user tries that. The segfault shouldn't happen of course.)

And please post your `emerge --info' too.
Comment 4 Alexander Berntsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-17 11:18:24 UTC
yes it tries to write to xorg.conf. I am the root user when trying to do this - but it crashes for the same reason when trying to do it as a regular user. here is my emerge info,

Try with current stable, reopen if it's still an issue.
