Further tests realized:

Xfree 4.3.0 hangs the box if gmp has died.

This doesnt happen on 2.5.73-mm.

So i guees its a kernel problem.

My CFLAGS:

CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -mcpu=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe -m3dnow -msse mfpmath=sse,387 -mmmx -fforce-addr -fomit-frame-pointer -frerun-cse-after-loop -frerun-loop-opt -falign-functions=64 -maccumulate-outgoing-args -ffast-math-fprefetch-loop-arrays"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

Try -r7 and do a fresh config.
