have you tried it without -ftree-vectorize and -frename-registers ?

builds here.

Same problem. "radeon_accelfuncs.c:576: error: 'pattern' undeclared (first use in this function)" seems to be the issue. My guess is that something is wrong with the preprocessor defs or one of the included files.

I have the same problem too.

I have one more problem.I was bored of the ati-drivers so i've pulled em out.
But at eselect list it is still there.
# eselect opengl list
Available OpenGL implementations:
  [1] ati
  [2] xorg-x11 *

I had some problems compiling cause of libGL.

I know the last one is not about the xf86-video-ati.Just incase someone had the same.

Thanks

Well , now i have a big problem.
I 've unemerged xf86-video-ati-6.8.0-r1 by mistake.
So i am trying to install it again but i have the same error as above.
Comment 5 Gabriel Misailidis 2008-09-18 23:17:36 UTC
Hello.
After some errors , i've observed that there is file being made at /var/tmp/portage/x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.9.0/work/xf86-video-ati-6.9.0/src/radeon_accel.loT
There is a capital T there , i don't if that matters but inside that libtool it says \
#radeon_accel.lo : a libtool object
bla bla bla
#Don't delete this file

I asked a friend of mine to install it but to interupt during the installation.
he had radeon_accel.lo not radeon_accel.loT

I don't know if that matters but looks strange.

Any help will be welcome.
Thanks.

Comment 6 Gabriel Misailidis 2008-09-18 23:32:21 UTC
Damn , sorry if that will be double posted put links2 isn't the best browser.

at /var/tmp/portage/x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.9.0/work/xf86-video-ati-6.9.0/src/

a file is being name under name radeon_accel.loT

I've asked a friend to do the installation. It was fine.
He did it again but he interupted the procedure.
at his folder the file was named as radeon_accel.lo

inside the file it says :
# radeon_accel.lo :a libtool obj file
bla bla

I don't it the capital T matters.But it's strange.

Any welcome is welcome.
Comment 7 Travis Snoozy 2008-09-25 05:52:53 UTC
I think I may have a workaround:

1) edit /etc/make.conf and set VIDEO_CARDS=""
2) emerge --update --deep --newuse world (which should upgrade X and OpenGL to their latest)
3) edit /etc/make.conf and set VIDEO_CARDS="radeon"
4) emerge --update --deep --newuse world (which should install xf86-video-ati, which will now build)

I suspect that there's a circular or reversed dependency with xf86-video-ati and X, or that there's a missing dependency between xf86-video-ati and OpenGL.
Comment 8 Charles Noneman 2008-10-06 19:18:48 UTC
Thanks Travis, that did it. I did:
VIDEO_CARDS=""
emerge -1av mesa xorg-server
VIDEO_CARDS="radeon fglrx"
emerge -1av mesa xorg-server

and everything is working.

It can make xf86-video-ati emerged, but with side effects. Screen refreshing and key press response are stuck. For example the drop-down menus or pop menus are messed. Key stoke is ok, but if I keep pressing a key down, e.g. backspace, it will be very slow. And before I entering X, key pressing is normal in console, but once I entered the X and back, key pressing is stuck in console too. So I think it is not just a dependency problem.
